Duloxetine
| It inhibits serotonin & noradrenaline reuptake in the nerve endings leading to an increase in available serotonin which is a cornerstone mechanism for the treatment of depression. |
Duloxetine dosage forms in the pharmacy are: Cymbalta, Depalta, Duciltia & Yentreve.
Uses:
1-Major depression.
2- General anxiety disorder.
3- Diabetic neuropathy.
4- Stress urinary incontinence.

1- For major depression 60 mg once daily.
2- For general anxiety disorder, the initial dose is 30 mm once daily, which can be increased to 60 mg once daily. The maximum daily dose is 120 mg once daily.
3-For diabetic neuropathy,60 mg once daily then monitor the response after 2 months, if there is no improvement discontinue therapy.
4—For moderate to severe stress urinary incontinence, 40 mg is given twice daily, and the response is monitored after 2-4 weeks.

Pregnancy: The manufacturer advises avoiding the use of the drug.
Lactation: Passes into breast milk and should not be used.
Liver or kidney impairment: Avoid use if creatinine clearance is less than 30 mL/min.
